This is the big rock we climbed - Sigiriya, the palace fort built by a King after he murdered his dad to seize the crown. Have do idea how they made it up there with bricks and no stairs...that's one for Professor Google I reckon. It's a fabbo hike with awesome views, cave paintings and shared leg pain with other tourists and locals. ???? But we're moving again and late yesterday we took a crowded local bus (2 hours, 80c ????) from Dambulla where Emmie propped herself up on the dashboard til the lovely locals rearranged themselves like a puzzle so we could fit into a seat together. ☀️ Booked a night at a cheap hotel where we moved rooms twice due to 1/ no water 2/key stuck in door and I've just realised it wasn't so cheap as I've been charged $15 extra on a $30 room. I was too tired to work it out and I just realised!! Wahhhh, sneaky front-desk bugger. ???? Now up at 5.30 to choof off early to train station to try to get any kind of space on the sold-out train to Nuwara Eliya. It's that beautiful stretch of tracks with tea plantations, bridges and tunnels - we will prob be jammed in like sardines and only see the fans attached to the roof or people's underarms ????????????
